A SUMMER GARDEN FESTIVAL
At The Edit, we were commissioned to design and run a relaxed and fun summer party in the heart of the capital. The setting therefore of the gorgeous Bedford Square Garden, was the perfect idyllic spot. The atmosphere we were briefed on, was relaxed summer festival styling for this midsummer evening filled with good food, fun activities and great music.
A SUMMER RETREAT
Hidden behind the black gates and railings, beyond a camouflage of trees lies Bedford Square Garden. The Edit team have been working with the Bedford Estates to design events within the gardens and this was set to be a fun evening. The gardens saw two main tents erected and a number of smaller pagodas for chill out areas. Alongside these, there were a number of secret activities and stations for guests to discover. The two main tents saw no less than seven acts throughout the night from acoustic bands to retro DJs. Most importantly they also protected guests from any potential rain however Mother Nature was kind to us and we had glorious sunshine!
THE ACTIVITIES
The crowd were keen to explore and within the trees, pathways and shrubs, activities were hidden, waiting to be discovered. Around one corner an overflowing, colour filled flower crown station where guests could twist and weave their own creations. These colourful masterpieces could then be worn proudly throughout the event. Around another corner, for those with a sweet tooth, a sparkling retro sweet stall was hidden waiting to be feasted upon. Similarly, in keeping with the glittery theme a glitter station was placed within the gardens bandstand. There were also numerous fun games to discover from an inflatable surfboard simulator photo booth to a giant ball pit and various circus games.
THE FOOD
In line with the festival theme the food was a varied and fun affair. Guests had a choice of four stations; Fried chicken, Bao buns, Southern style slow cooked dishes, Calzone pizzas and Louisiana Hot Dogs. The food stalls lined up proudly at the head of the gardens and guests feasted throughout the evening.
SUMMER FESTIVAL STYLING
The little touches throughout the evening gave the event the perfect informal feel. We loved designing the fun, colourful signage using wooden palettes. Also the vintage furniture gave the event a grounded and high end feel. Seeing guests faces as they discovered items such as the hidden Pimms bike bar really made us smile. The gardens have a truly special and secret feel to them and the event perfectly highlighted this. An exciting event to design and deliver within an amazing location. We can’t wait to come back for the next event.
